THE POWER ISSUE

This issue looks at the way power manifests itself. We look at institutionalized disempowerment at UCLA and talk to students on campus who have found empowerment while overcoming adversity.

For this issue, I served as the visual editor. I also helped the design team, through photographing and designing the cover and playlist pages.

REFLECTIONS ISSUE

Reflections was born out of a need to look into how criticisms, pain, and expectations affect our daily lives and choices. Also including stories of resiliency, self-love, and self-empowerment. Our communities make up a diverse array of emotions and struggles, that we try to capture in this issue.

As the visual editor, with the help of my team, we were able to provide all the visuals for this issue.

The cover visual was created by Haven Jovel

TRANSICIONES ISSUE

The Transiciones Issue was originally supposed to be the Nostalgia Issue. However, was we were dealing with the beginnings of the COVID-19, we began to question whether creating an issue on Nostalgia still felt appropriate or relatable. Coming out with an issue during a time when everything feels uncertain was emotionally challenging. Transiciones was truly made out of a desire to allow our writers and artists to just create and explore these moments of transitions.

CHISMEANDO CON LA GENTE
"Chismeando con la Gente" was my college radio show that dived into current news, politics, media, history, and music through the Latinx perspective. "Chismeando" also featured several up-and-coming artists from the local LA and OC LAtinx music scene, like The Red Pears, Sundiver, Archer Oh, Cruel Reflections.
All visuals created by me for the La Gente Newsmagazine online blog.
All images can be found with their respective articles on lagente.org
